Physical Description

A circular medal constructed of bronze. The obverse bears the bust of Prince Luitpold encompassed by the inscription “LUITPOLD PRINZ-REGENT VON BAYERN”. The reverse bears the inscription “FÜR 25 JÄHRIGE TREUE DIENSTLEISTUNG” (for 25 years of loyal service), encompassed by an oak wreath. On a loop for suspension.

History

The Long Service Award For Workers In The Army Workshops was established by Prince Luitpold of Bavaria on October 27, 1898. It was established to commend workers in the army administration and workshops for long and faithful service.

The Long Service Award For Workers In The Army Workshops came in two classes: silver and bronze. The silver medal was conferred to recognize 40 years of service and the bronze medal was conferred to recognize 25 years of service. Recipients were granted a monetary prize of 50 marks for workers, 80 marks for master assistants, and 100 marks for non-budgetary masters at technical institutes. At 40 years of service the amount was doubled.
