Physical Description
A circular medal constructed of silver. The obverse bears the bust of King Maximilian II with the inscription "MAXIMILIAN II KÖNIG V. BAYERN". The reverse bears the inscription "IN TREUE FEST 1849" (in steadfast loyalty) within an ornate eight-pointed design, with smaller rays between each of the points. On a loop for suspension with a deep red ribbon with green stripes at the borders.
History
The Commemorative Medal for the Suspension of Rebellion, 1849 was established by King Maximilian II on June 10, 1849. It was awarded to Enlisted Men, Non-Commissioned Officers, Officers, Staff Officers, Generals, and military Officers from the Military Corps of the Palatinate who fought in the German revolutions of 1848-49.
