Physical Description
A circular medal constructed of bronze. The obverse bears the image of a cross with a crowned Bavarian lion in the centre, encompassed by an oak wreath. There are rays in the quadrants between the arms and the arms bear the inscription "KÖNIG UND VATERLAND" (king and fatherland). The reverse bears the image of a cross. The centre bears the letter M and the arms are inscribed with "FÜR DIE JAHRE 1813 UND 1814" (for the years of 1813 and 1814). There are rays in the quadrants between the arms. On a loop for suspension with a white ribbon with black and white stripes.
History
The Commemorative Medal for Military Officials, 1813-1815 was established by King Maximilian I. Joseph on December 19, 1848. The medal was conferred upon Military Officials who participated in the defense of the homeland during the campaigns from 1813 to 1815.
