Physical Description

A straight armed cross pattée constructed of bronze or blackened bronze with rounded arm points. The obverse centre bears a medallion with the royal cipher encompassed by rays and an oak leaf border. The obverse arms bear the inscription "FÜR DIE JAHRE 1813 UND 1814" (for the years of 1813 and 1814). The reverse centre bears a medallion with an image of the crowned Bavarian lion holding a sword. The background is of lozenges (representing the Bavarian flag). Encompassed by a border of oak leaves. The reverse arms bear the inscription "KÖNIG UND VATERLAND" (king and fatherland). With a loop for suspension.

History

The Commemorative Campaign Cross for Officers and Enlisted Men, 1813-1815 was established by King Maximilian I Joseph on December 4, 1814. The cross was conferred upon Officers and Enlisted Men who participated in the campaigns from 1813 to 1815.
