A rectangular bar constructed of blackened iron, thread, and cloth. The frame of the bar is of blackened iron, with the inside embroidered with the inscription "F.W.L.".

History


The Infantry Reserve Long Service Bar (1877-1913) was founded by Grand Duke Friedrich I. It was conferred upon reserve Non-Commissioned Officers and Enlisted Men to recognize exceptional service within a campaign, or for serving on active duty for a minimum of 3 months.

The bar was the original form of the decoration.
