The Medal for Colonial War Effort (1940-1945) was awarded to natives, missionaries, civil servants, and volunteers of the female auxiliary service in recognition of a minimum of 1 year of service in the Belgian Congo or Ruanda-Urundi during the Second World War between May 10, 1940 and May 7, 1945. Recipients of this Medal were ineligible to receive the African War Medal (1940-1945), and no awards were made after January 1, 1958.
The obverse inscription translates to "For Homeland and Victory."
