History
The Cross of Honour for Military Service Abroad was established by Royal Decree on June 16, 1997. It is awarded to members of the Belgian Armed Forces in recognition of military service abroad, including service in Germany since May 9, 1945, and in Zaire (now Congo), Rwanda and Burundi since July 1, 1960.
Every grade is distinguished by the ribbon pattern. The obverse inscription translates to “For Country.”
