The Cross for Deportees (1914-1918) was awarded to Belgian citizens who were deported to Germany during the First World War in recognition of their refusal to submit to forced labour. It was not awarded posthumously. Instead, those who died during deportation were named Knights of the Order of Leopold II.
No Crosses were awarded after December 31, 1925.
