Established by King Oscar II, in commemoration of his Silver Jubilee, this Medal was conferred upon the Royal Family, and members of the Royal Household who rendered services or attended the Silver Jubilee celebrations in Stockholm.
Members of the Royal Family, and Royal guests of the celebration were conferred the medal in silver gilt, with pale blue enamel.
Members of the Royal Household, who were of the lower class, were conferred the medal in oxidized silver, with dark blue enamel.
A small group of individuals, both composed of Royal Family and Royal Household members, were conferred the medal in silver gilt, with red enamel.
According to official records, 232 medals were awarded of the first version, 268 of the second version, and 49 of the third version.
