History
This Medal was founded by King Victor Emmanuel III to reward all colonial and Italian military personnel and civilians that had rendered service during the Italo-Turkish War against the Ottoman Empire from 1911-1912.
To be eligible for the Medal, the individual had to have participated in combat and operations against the Ottoman forces between September 29, 1911, and October 19, 1912.
The ribbon may be decorated with bronze clasps indicating the recipient’s terms of service, such as, "1911," "1911-1912," and "1912." The ribbon may also have unofficial clasps associated with service in the Libyan campaigns, including "1912-1913" and "1913-1914." The addition of clasps may increase the overall price of the medal.
