History

The Medal is conferred upon military personnel and civilians who have, in both combat and non-combat situations, increased the prestige of the Carabinieri through the display of extraordinary courage and skill while exposed to risk and aiding people in peril.

It may also be awarded for preventing a disaster, or for preventing the infringement of international human rights.

The reverse features the name of the recipient and the date and place of the event for which they are being recognized.

The Gold Medal is awarded when the meritorious act is worthy of the highest praise and reflecting great honour on the Carabinieri Corps.
