History

This Medal is conferred upon military personnel who have demonstrated extraordinary courage and skill in the midst of dangerous situations.

It is also awarded to individuals who have risked their lives to rescue others from peril and acted to mitigate or prevent damage resulting from a serious disaster.

The Gold Medal is awarded in recognition of meritorious and commendable acts of the highest degree that have bestowed a great honour on the Italian Army.

The reverse features the date and place of the event for which the recipient is being recognized.
