History

The Medal is conferred upon military personnel, civilians, institutions, and military units in recognition of acts of courage and expertise during dangerous flights, or for other acts that have increased the prestige of the Italian Air Force.

The reverse features the name of the recipient and the date and place of the event for which the recipient is being recognized.

The Gold Medal is awarded for acts that are commendable and worthy to the highest degree, and which bestow honour on the Air Force.
