History

This Medal is associated with the Long Service Cross, which was instituted in 1900 during the Kingdom of Italy. The modern Award is awarded to all ranks of the military in recognition of long and meritorious service within the military of the Italian Republic. The Gold Cross (for 25 years) is conferred upon Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers for 25 years of service within the Army, Navy, or Air Force, and the ribbon features a gold coloured crown.
