Physical Description

Many seen of these have genuine diamonds and rubies. Those with "brilliants" (paste or fake stones) would be worth less. Diamond set stars are worth considerably more.

History

The Order was founded by Sultan Abdulhamid II. It was conferred upon foreign and Turkish women in recognition of acts of charity, and as a mark of the Sultan's esteem.

The Order was often conferred upon the Sultan's favorites within his harem.

It is also known as "Order of Charity".

The obverse features the cypher of the Sultan.

There are several variations in the design attributes of this Order.

The inscription is a translation of the Turkish script on the obverse.
