History
This medal was conferred by the Ottoman Government, in recognition of meritorious military service. It is also known as the Medal of Tarz-I Cedit Buyuk Imtiyaz.
The reverse features a curved section where the recipient could engrave their name. Medals that have names in this area with raised letters are considered rare, and were awarded to important Heads of State.
When this medal was awarded for military achievements, particularly during WWI, the ribbon of the medal was decorated with crossed swords.
The obverse and reverse inscriptions are rough translations of the Turkish script.
