History
The Order of Milosh the Great was founded in 1898 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the return Prince Milosh to the Serbian throne. Since its inception, the Order was proclaimed the highest state order in Serbia.
This Order had for classes that were conferred upon Serbian and foreigners, civilians and military personnel, in recognition of meritorious service rendered to the Obrenovich dynasty. Since 1899, the King had the right to grant the Order at his own discretion without naming any particular services.
The Classes were: I Class, II Class, III Class and IV Class. I and II Classes were awarded with identical breast star.
It was abolished following the May Coup of 1903.
This Order is considered a very scarce award due to the short time of lifespan. Following incomplete records, the Order was awarded 225 times to Serbian recipients, and was granted more times to foreigners.
The obverse inscription translates to "BLOOMS 1815" and the reverse features an inscription in Cyrillic, translated as "MILOS THE GREAT".
