History

This Medal was created in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the Romanian Communist Party, which was later disbanded in 1989.

It was awarded to members of the Romanian Communist Party for contributions to the Party, and for the implementation of its policies. It was also awarded in recognition of contributions made to socialism as a whole in Romania.

The reverse inscription translates to "40th Anniversa ...  ry of the Establishment of the Romanian Communist Party."

There may be additional versions that vary in size.
