History
The Honour Decoration of the Romanian Eagle was established by King Carol II in 1933 and was suppressed in 1947 after the fall of the Romanian monarchy. It was reinstated in 2004 following the collapse of the communist regime and is currently awarded to members of the Romanian Parliament, Senate, and Chamber of Deputies for meritorious service. It may also be awarded to foreigners in recognition of contributions to parliamentary relations with other sovereign states.
There are two versions of the Officer. The first version, awarded prior to 1947, features an eagle with a royal crown. The current version is similar, but it does not have a royal crown.
The previous version is listed in the Medals & Decorations of the Kingdom of Romania (1881-1947).
