History
The Volunteer War Cross was established in 1939, although it was never awarded due to the outbreak of the Second World War.
It was intended for military and paramilitary volunteers who were awarded the Order of Virtuti Militari or the Cross of Valour, those who served for at least 3 months from 1918-1921, and military instructors who were active for at least 6 months during the same period. It was also intended for all those who were killed or wounded in combat.
The Silver Cross features an obverse inscription that translates to "War Volunteer.”
