Some sources suggest that the title of Meritorious Farmer of the Polish People's Republic was awarded by the new government between 1990 and 1992 with a crowned eagle and altered inscription, although no examples have been encountered.

History

The honorary title of Meritorious Farmer of the Polish People's Republic was established by the Council of State in 1985. It was permanently discontinued in 1992 following the collapse of the communist regime.

It was conferred upon Polish farmers, employees of agricultural cooperatives, employees of agricultural educational and technical organisations, and employees of agricultural institutions for meritorious service. Recognised merits included long and faithful service, high productivity, outstanding research, and the implementation of new technological advancements in the agricultural industry. Recipients were entitled to a monetary award in the form of a pension increase.

The Badge features initials on the obverse that stand for "Polska Rzeczpospolita Ludowa" (Polish People's Republic) and an additional inscription that translates to "Meritorious Farmer."
