History
The Silesian Uprising Cross was established by the Council of Ministers in 1946 and was awarded in the Polish People's Republic until the collapse of the communist regime in 1989. It was also awarded by the Republic of Poland for a short period before it was officially discontinued in 1999.
It was awarded to armed combatants of the 1919, 1920, and 1921 Silesian Uprisings. It was also awarded to those who fought in the region during the Second World War, including members of resistance organisations.
The Silver Cross features a reverse inscription that translates to "Silesian Warriors." The initials stand for "Krajowa Rada Narodowa" which translates to "National Council."
