History
The Rodlo Medal was established by the Council of State in 1985. It was awarded to members of the Union of Poles in Germany in recognition of preserving Polish culture and identity in German-occupied territories before the Second World War and in recognition of reconstructive efforts in these territories following the end of the war. It was also awarded posthumously. It was officially discontinued in 1992 following the collapse of the communist regime.
The Silver Medal features an obverse inscription that translates to "We Will Not Abandon the Soil of our Ancestry," and a reverse inscription that translates to "For Warrior Builders of Poland, People's Republic of Poland."
