History

The Medal for Your Freedom and Ours was established by the Polish People's Republic in 1956 and was administered by the Council of State until it was permanently discontinued in 1992 following the collapse of the communist regime. It was awarded to Polish volunteers who fought in the Polish units of the Spanish Republican Army during the Spanish Civil War. It was also awarded in recognition of outstanding contributions to these units.

The Silver Medal features an obverse inscription that translates to "For Your Freedom and Ours.”
