History


The Decoration for the Conservation of National Monuments was established by the Ministry of Culture and the Arts in 1963 and was retained by the Republic of Poland following the collapse of the communist regime in 1989. It is currently awarded by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage to Polish citizens for their work in the care and conservation of national monuments and other cultural property. Recognised merits included long service, significant scientific research, as well as the promotion of the field and its merits.

The I Class Decoration features an obverse inscription that translates to "For the Conservation of Monuments."

The Decoration for the Conservation of National Monuments is also listed in the Medals & Decorations of the Third Polish Republic (1989-).
