History
The Decoration for Meritorious State Workers was established by the Council of Ministers in 1969. It was awarded to employees of local and state administrations for long and meritorious service. It has not been awarded since the collapse of the communist regime in 1989.
There are three versions of the Gold Decoration that differ in design and inscription. The first version, awarded from 1969-1974, features initials that stand for "Polska Rzeczpospolita Ludowa" (Polish People's Republic) and an obverse inscription that translates to "Meritorious Employee of National Council." The second version, awarded in 1975, also features initials that stand for "Polska Rzeczpospolita Ludowa" (Polish People's Republic) and an obverse inscription that translates to "Meritorious State Worker." The third version, awarded from 1975-1989, features initials that stand for "Polska Rzeczpospolita Ludowa" (Polish People's Republic) on the obverse and reverse, as well as a reverse inscription that translates to "Meritorious State Worker."
