History

The Order of Bogdan the Founder is conferred upon Moldovan citizens in recognition of exceptional contributions to the development of the Republic, as well as its civil peace, unity, inter-ethnic relationships, and international prestige. It is named after 14th-century ruler Bogdan I, the first independent ruler of Moldavia.

The Breast Star features an obverse inscription that translates to "Bogdan, Founder."
