History
This Medal was established as an extension of the Order of Gediminas after the creation of the Order in 1930. It was suppressed during the Soviet occupation, but was officially re-instated in 1991 after the collapse of Soviet regime and the declaration of the Republic of Lithuania.
It is conferred upon civil servants and enlisted men in the Lithuanian Armed Forces for meritorious service.
The I Class Medal was awarded for 5 years of service, the II Class Medal was awarded for 15 years of service, and the III Class Medal was awarded for 25 years of service. The service requirements could be waived when the Medal was awarded to foreigners.
A total of 2557 III Class Medals were awarded during this period.
The obverse inscription translates to "Gediminas, Grand Duke of Lithuania."
