Gold-coloured bullion wire forming the open-ended wreath below and smaller full wreath surrounding the Greek cross shield, silver bullion wire forming the chain and rope on the fouled silvered anchor, the Greek cross in fine silver wire on blue wool, the inverted pentagon frame of its shield in rolled silver wire, all on a black wool base, simulated leather backer, 69x84mm, the backer peeling away from the insignia and exposing the underlying cardboard support, some discolouration in the gold-coloured bullion evident, near extremely fine.
The Army Flying Personnel Armband (1916-1917) was discontinued in 1917.
The Officer Armband has a plane embroidered in gold wire on black wool.
