The Aircrew Badge is classified into four types based on changes in design during different political regimes.
The Type I Aircrew Badge is similar to the Type I Pilot Badge, but it is half-sized.
There are three versions of the Type I Badge that differ in composition. The first and second versions both feature a crown above the flying eagle that is inset with red silk.
