History
The Medal of the New Constitution was established by Prime Minister Konstantin Päts to celebrate of the signing of the Estonian Constitution in 1937. It was awarded in two grades to officials who contributed to the drafting and signing of the constitution.
The I Class Medal was awarded to Army Commanders and members of the Estonian Government who were in office during the submission of the draft, to those present in draft meetings, and to the General Secretary of the National Assembly. A total of 117 I Class Medals were awarded.
