History

The Medal was founded by the Minister of Defence of the Czech Republic to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II and all individuals who have fought and risked their lives in the defence of the Czech Republic and democracy.

It was awarded to veterans and participants in national resistance efforts, as well as civilian employees of the Defence Department and active military personnel, who have worked to promote and further freedom and democracy within the military traditions of the Czech Republic.
