History

This Title was instituted by the Presidium, and it was conferred in recognition of outstanding meritorious service in science, education, healthcare, the arts, or culture.

To be a recipient of this Title, the individual had to have already been awarded the Honoured Title, see 05.BGR.0104.101.01 in Titles of the People’s Republic of Bulgaria.

This Title was discontinued in 1987, and it was conferred upon approximately 700 recipients.
