History
The decoration was instituted in 1941. This medal was conferred upon members of the 9th Army who served under General Mario Vercellino, and participated in the attack on Greece on April 13, 1941.
The face of the bronze medal shows a relief map of south-east Albania. The map is surrounded by a circular laurel border, a the Italian crown above. The obverse inscribed "9A ARMATA" at the bottom and is circumscribed "CAMPAGNA DI GRECIA E JUGOSLAVIA 28 OTTOBRE 1940 – 23 APRILE 1941 – XIX" (Campaign of Greece and Yugoslavia 28 October 1940 – 23 April 1941-19).
The reverse has a crowned double-headed Albanian Eagle and is circumscribed "MIK ME KRYE ME BESE E BURRNI" and "AMICO FINO AL SACRIFICIO CON FEDE E CORAGGIO" (In Albanian and in Italian Fine friends to the sacrifice with faith and courage).
