History
The highest order to be conferred on those who have performed meritorious deeds to the state. This Order may only be held by three living persons at one time. It was instituted by Sultan Badlishah on either October 30, 1952 or November 17, 1953 (the dates of its founding are conflicting).
The neck badge is an open work in gold and enamel. The obverse is the Kedah Crest. The shield is red with a diagonal band in gold and the crescent is green and bears the inscription "Untok Jasa" meaning "For Merit" in Jawi script. The reverse bears the inscription "For Merit" in English, the name of the recipient and the date the award was conferred in Gregorian and Arab style.
