The Accession to India Medal, 1947 was created by
Maharaja Sriraj Mayurdwajsinhji Meghrajji III on March 3, 1948, to commemorate Dhrangadha's accession to India and was awarded in recognition of services provided to the state and the public. Other general services were also eligible for the award.
The Medal features English, Sanskrit, and Gujarati inscriptions. The obverse features the date "9 AUG 1947" and "ACCESSION TO THE DOMINION OF INDIA DHRANGADHRA" in English and the motto “JAI HIND/SUKHINO BHAVANTU DHARARYA” in Sanskrit, which translates to "Hail to India May the People of the Land be Happy." The reverse features the English inscription “HALVAD DHRANGADHRA STATE JHALAWAR KATHIAWAR INDIA” as well as Gujarati Sanskrit script which translates to "The Jhala Ruler’s Nature [Splendor/Silver] Shines for General Welfare."
