History

The Maharaja's Police Medal was instituted by Maharaja Pratap Singh Gaekwad to recognition acts of gallantry and brave conduct in the Police Force. Both Officers and other personnel are eligible for the award. The Medal is believed to be awarded in a Silver and Bronze Grade.

The Medal features an English inscription on the obverse as well as a Devanagari inscription on the reverse which translates to "Victory to Lord Shiva" and "Saddle is Home, Saddle is Throne".
