History

The Army Achievement Medal was approved by the Secretary of the Army on March 2, 1981. The Bronze Medal is awarded to personnel who served in a position below the rank of colonel in any capacity with the United States Army in recognition of non-combat meritorious service or outstanding achievements since August 1, 1981. The service recognized by the award must be less than that which is required to merit the recognition of a higher Commendation Medal or a Meritorious Service Medal. Military personnel of friendly foreign forces may also be eligible for the award.

Bronze and silver oak leaf emblems may be worn on the ribbon to denote subsequent awards of the Medal.
