History


The United States Expert Pistol Shot Medal was established in the 1920's or 1930's as an incentive to recognize outstanding marksmanship in the Navy. The Bronze Medal may be awarded to members of the Navy or the Navy Reserve who have qualified as experts in pistol shooting by obtaining a superior score on an approved weapons qualification course.

A bronze "E" emblem is awarded with the Medal for wear on the ribbon when the ribbon is worn alone.
