History

The Selective Service System Distinguished Service Medal was established by the Selective Service Director, Curtis Tart, on October 1, 1971. The Bronze Medal is awarded to civilian and military Selective Service System personnel in recognition of exceptionally meritorious or inspirational service and significant achievements which contribute to the goals of the Selective Service Administration.
