The Vietnam Civilian Service Award was established by the United States Foreign Service. The Bronze Medal was awarded to employees of the United States State Department, USAID, USIA, or other civilian services who served for 1 year or more in diplomatic and consular positions in Vietnam or in Vietnam airspace and territorial waters between 1959 and 1975. Service that is eligible for the award includes sustained or exceptional performance under the threat of physical attack or in the face of risks to personal safety and acts of valour. The Medal has since been discontinued.
