History

The Department of Homeland Security Secretary’s Award for Exceptional Service is awarded to Department of Homeland Security employees in recognition of work, sacrifice, professional excellence, and other extraordinary service provided towards protecting the homeland and which is above and beyond the normal expectations of duty. The Silver Medal is awarded for exceptional individual leadership and service that involves sustained achievements and superior performance of duties that improves the effectiveness of Department of Homeland Security programs. Eligible service may include accomplishments, business improvements or resourcefulness.
