The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives Medal of Valor, otherwise simply known as the ATF Medal of Valor, is awarded to members of the United States Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Bureau for acts of exceptional valor or bravery. To qualify for the award, the recipient must have demonstrated a voluntary act of courage performed in the line of duty and with the possession of knowledge of a risk to personal safety and life. Examples of eligible service includes confronting a suspected criminal adversary and acts of courage provided during a threat to public safety. Acts of lifesaving or other acts which prevent serious harm or injury are also eligible for the award.
