History

The Border Patrol Newton Azrak Award was created in honour of Patrol Inspectors Newton and Azrak, who were killed while on duty, and is the highest award for Border Patrol personnel. The Star is awarded annually in recognition of acts of bravery or heroism. Qualifying service includes extraordinary bravery or courage in the line of duty or heroic and humane acts during times of emergency.
