The Agency for International Development Distinguished Honor Award was established by the Agency for International Development to reward members of the Foreign Service, Civil Service, or the United States Military for exceptionally outstanding service and achievements that have a national or international significance. The Gold Medal may be awarded for service to the agency or to the United States government, leadership in the administration of agency programs which results in the successful accomplishment of objectives, and sustained achievements that involve the exercise of authority or judgment made to advance the public interest.
