History
The Air Reserve Forces Meritorious Service Medal was initially established by the Secretary of the Air Force, Eugene M. Zuckert, as a ribbon bar on April 1, 1964. On November 2, 1971, the award was amended and issued as a Medal. The Bronze Medal is awarded to qualifying enlisted personnel in recognition of meritorious service, exemplary behaviour, efficiency, and fidelity to the Air Reserve Forces since April 1, 1965. Prior to July 1, 1975, the minimum time requirement was 4 years of qualifying service. After this date, the time requirement is 3 years of service. The time requirement restarts after a 24-hour break in service.
Additional awards are denoted by an oak leaf emblem worn on the ribbon.
