History

The Navy Superior Public Service Award was created to reward private citizens not employed by the United States Department of the Navy for significant contributions which broadly and positively impact the mission of the United States Navy. The Silver Medal is often awarded to business and civic leaders, scientists, and other nongovernment civilians.
