History

The Navy Meritorious Public Service Award is awarded by the United States Department of the Navy to private civilians not employed by the department. The Bronze Medal is generally awarded to business and civic leaders, scientists and other civilians in recognition of outstanding contributions to the Department of the Navy, but which are of a lesser degree than to merit the awards of the Navy Distinguished Public Service Award or the Navy Superior Public Service Award. To be eligible for the award, the service must be voluntary and have a substantial impact on a specific activity or geographical locations.
