History
The Army of Occupation of Germany Medal was established by Act of Congress on November 21, 1941. The Bronze Medal was awarded retroactively to any member of the Army who served in Germany or Austria-Hungary after the First World War between November 12, 1918, and July 11, 1923. Navy and Marine Corps personnel who were attached to shore duty during the qualifying time period were also eligible for the award.
The Medal was issued with 2 different ribbon designs. The first ribbon design features a wavy blue stripe on the edge of the ribbon, while the later ribbon design features a straight blue stripe on the edge. The first ribbon design is rare.
