History
The Flight Engineer Badge was authorized by the United States Army Air Forces on June 19, 1945. The Wings were issued to military Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers who qualified as flight engineers for in-flight service on board military aircraft, such as monitoring and operating aircraft systems. The Wings were declared obsolete in 1965, but they were still authorized for wear by veterans who served in the Second World War and the Korean War.
There may be additional versions of the Wings which vary by composition.
